Guided tours & Audio tours
You can visit the basilica on an individual basis or as a group. Entry to the basilica is free of charge. If you want to learn more about the basilica, you can take a guided tour or rent a audio tour. Guided tours are available in English, French, German and Dutch. The audio tour is available in English and Dutch. If you just want to wander around the basilica and enjoy the beauty of it all without any tour, a visit to the balcony on the inside of the dome is a recommendation.
If you want to learn more about the history of the basilica, a guided tour is the best way to do so. One of our experienced guides, walks you around the basilica and tells you their memories, stories and the history about the different parts, statues and the basilica as a whole. Groups up to 25 persons pay only € 17,00 every extra person pays € 0,50. Guided tours must be reservated in advance through our contact form.
When visiting the basilica with just a few people, an audio tour can be a good alternative to an guided tour. When you walk around the basilica, at every spot with a story behind it, the audio tour starts automatically. If you would like to rent an audio tour, go to the service desk at the entrance of the basilica. One audio tour costs € 3,00.
Museum & Shop
Right beneath the basilica there is a crypt. You can enter the crypt through the stairs at the right-hand side of the basilica built inside one of the columns at the back of the basilica. Down in the crypt you find a museum, giftshop and public restrooms. For larger groups there is a reception hall. Both the museum and shop are open from 13:00 until 16:00
In the museum the history of the Oudenbosch Basilica and it's connection to Oudenbosch is the central theme. With old pictures, books and information panels you are guided through this interesting history.
In the giftshop there are a lot of different souvenirs for sale. From nativity scenes, to candles and devotional objects. Feel free to look around!
You can see the dome of the basilica from a long distance. With a height of 63 meters, that's what you would expect.
At the right side of the basilica you will find a staircase embedded in one of the columns which leads down to the crypt, and up to the dome.
After 144 steps you reach the balcony at the inside of the dome with a stunning view down into the basilica. Don't forget to look up though, the painting on the ceiling is quite impressive as well!
For a visit to the the dome an entry fee of € 0,50 must be paid.
Directions & parking
When traveling by car coming from Breda/Tilburg, please follow A58 until exit 21 (Rucphen). At the end of the exit, turn right, direction Bosschenhoofd. Follow "Pastoor van Breugelstraat until you come to a roundabout, crossing Oudenbossche Koepelbaan. You can already see the basilica from here. Go straight ahead, after about one kilometer turn right at the end of the street. After 400 meters the basilica is on your left-hand side.
When traveling from Rotterdam or Sealand follow the A17 Highway until exit 22 (Oudenbosch). Follow direction Oudenbosch.At the roundabout, turn left, Kuivezand. Follow this road into Oudenbosch, the basilica will be on the right side.
Where to park
Around the basilica are a lot of possibilities to park your car. At the back of the basilica is a large parking area, as well as at the train station where the tourist office is located. During 2018 it will be necessary to use a blue card while parking. For other parking lots, please follow "Route P"
When traveling by bus, please contact us in advance. There are a few parking places for busses right next to the basilica. If you wish to use this facility, please contact us in advance.
